Below is a photo of the Bridge/Culvert that goes under the old Clocktower road and is the at the entrance to the river sluice gate. If this becomes blocked water can not transfer from the Garden City ditches to the river dee. It can be seen here that the walls and part of the brickwork has collapsed and an unsatisfactory repair made by using a Trench Wall Safety rack.
Photo below is of the drainage ditch for a large part of the new Airfields housing estate, unlike the Garden City ditches, these new ones are not brick lined and now blocked with reeds. It is essential that these ditches are clear to allow water to flow.
